Koblenz Cruise

Today we took a cruise from St Goar to Koblenz. As usual there was a scramble on the top deck for the best seats. We ended up next to some Australians. We saw dozens of castles including Marks Burg. Koblenz has an enormous statue of Kaiser Willhelm 1st on a huge horse. This overlooks where the Mosel joins the Rhein. The boats seem to come far closer to the corner than would seem necessary.

The centre of Koblenz is very pretty and has some old buildings but there has been a lot of more recent development. We suspect Mr. Harris and his colleagues may have done some re-arrangements in the 40s? We did a tour round the town, had ice creams and got the train back. It took 27 minutes, the boat took nearly 3 hours.

Dinner has been by the side of the river watching the barges and trains, which are still plentiful even for a Saturday night.
