Our US route

We are starting our trip in Boston, MA and will be spending 5 days there. We haven’t been to Boston since before we were married – over 20 years in fact. At that point the local authorities were in the process of building a tunnel to reroute the freeway under the city, so the whole city was a building site. And what we had been told was a lovely walkable city wasn’t at all in fact. We are hoping they have finished the work by now.

From Boston, we will drive north west to Woodstock, VT for a couple of days and then to North Conway, NH in the White Mountains. The White Mountains are among the best place to see moose – so we have our fingers crossed that we will see moose in the wild. Just in case we don’t we have hired a cabin that has moose rugs, curtains, bedspreads…

From New Hampshire, we head to Camden on the Maine coast for a couple of days and then north to Acadia National Park. In the national park we have rented a yurt for a bit of glamping. Then we head back down the coast to Kennebunkport and then on to Provincetown, Cape Cod where we have an apartment on the beach.

The last part of our trip is via the southern states of New England. We spend our anniversary at a clifftop inn in Newport RI. The Victorian mansion was once the summer ‘cottage’ of a railway tycoon. The on to Stonington CT and Long Island before finally driving into New York to stay there for a week. At the end of our week in the Big Apple, we board the Queen Mary for our transatlantic crossing.
